BOIL WATER ADVISORY IN PICTURE BUTTE, ALBERTA
A broken water main has put the town of Picture Butte, Alberta and its 1500 residents under a boil water advisory. Manager of Public Utilities, Larry Peterson, stated that the break was caused by a faulty valve, resulting in the water to the entire town being shut off.
"There’s no shutoff for just that line, so we cut off water to the whole town," Peterson explained. "Took about five hours to fix it, and now we’re flushing all the hydrants. The samples are being sent off to Calgary to be tested from about 40 sites around town." It should take about 24 hours for tests to be completed and the boil water advisory to be removed.
