It was the third in so many months, with advisories also issued on November 23 and December 20. The cause in all instances was broken water lines

"We are not sure what is causing all these broken lines," says Camperville CAO, Mitchell Lafrenière. "Our pipes are buried eight feet deep and right now the frost has only reached two feet, so we suspect it has something to do with the heavy rains we had in October which might have caused the ground to heave and move the pipes around."

According to Lafrenière, the current break is now fixed but a precautionary advisory will remain in place for the community's 560 people until test results are received, which could take two more weeks

Camperville residents are mainly Métis, the village is located on the shores of Lake Winnipegosis. According to the Manitoba Historical Society, Camperville was the site of an early Indian Residential School. Built between 1894-1897 by Scottish masons from Red River using local stone, the four-storey structure was said to be the first solid building northwest of Dauphin.
