E.COLI ADVISORY LIFTED IN ISLE-AUX-MORTS, NL
Boil water advisories are pretty routine in the small Newfounland community of Isle-aux-Morts. The last one issued on April 10 due the presence of E.coli bacteria in the drinking system.
"I just got off the phone two minutes ago," says clerk Colleen Hatcher," the advisory is now lifted. I don't know much about it, you'll have to call back Tuesday when town clerk Lydia is back."
What Colleen could tell us is that advisories are issued quite often" the pipes are old", that the advisory affected all 600 people in the community and that the water source is surface water.
Our records indicate that Isle-aux-Morts has had 11 advisories since 2008, due to a range of issues from coliform bacteria to low chlorine residuals and repairs.
Isle aux Morts is located on the Southwest Coast of the Island, approximately 16 km south from the Marine Atlantic Ferry Terminal in Port aux Basques.
