BWA of the Day
ONE E.COLI SAMPLE PUTS TOWN OF 850 UNDER BWA
When E.coli bacteria was found in one sample from one house in Notre-Dame-de-Montauban, the whole town was put under BWA.
"It might well have been a sampling error," says the town's Assistant Director General, Treasurer and Municipal Inspector, Benoit Caouette. "But we can't take any chances, so we took two series of samples in different locations along the system and sent them to the lab yesterday. We are, sending two more series tomorrow."
According to Caouette, Notre-Dame-de-Montauban gets its drinking water from an artesian well and the water is not treated before distribution. Water Today's records indicate that there have been few previous Boil Water Advisories in Notre-Dame-de-Montauban , two in 2009 and one in 2010, since we started monitoring them in 2006.
Located in the Mauricie region, Notre-Dame-de-Montauban is divided by the Batiscan River with the nearby falls 'Chute du Neuf' being a popular tourist attraction. Forestry was traditionally the region's major industry but of the 32 original sawmills, only one has survived.
