WATER ADVISORY WRAP-UP

In Québec, in the City of Shawinigan, a partial preventive BWA (Boil Water Advisory) was issued to residents of the Turtle Lake area due to an aqueduct break. In Trois-Pistoles (Lower St. Lawrence region) a partial preventive BWA was issued, following a water shut-off of approximately 4 hours; the reason for the interruption in service was not stated. In the Municipality of Mirabel, a partial BWA was issued following a water shut-off due to works on the municipal infrastructure. Previously issued BWAs in Baie Comeau and Lac Brome were rescinded. A previously issued First Nation BWA to Kitcisakik (Grand Lac Victoria) has been lifted.

In Ontario, a blue-green algae (cyanobacteria bloom) advisory was issued by MECP (Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks) to the southern part of Tilden Lake (Nipissing District). The advisory was reported to North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit. A precautionary boil water advisory was issued to a small area at the south end of the Owen Sound water system due to adverse bacteriological test results. Short-term First Nation BWAs were issued to Lac Seul-Whitefish Bay PWS, and to Six Nations of Grand River-Little & Littler Treasures Child Care Semi-Public Water System. Two previously issued First Nation BWAs (Couchiching FN and Naicatchewenin FN) were both lifted.

In Alberta, a Boil Water Order was issued by Alberta Health Services (AHS) to Deerhaven Estates Waterworks (Rocky View County) as the water distribution system was depressurized which may have allowed potentially contaminated water to enter the drinking water supply. A previously issued water quality advisory to Islet Lake (Red Deer) was rescinded. A short-term BWA was issued to Cold Lake First Nation, English Bay Community Centre Semi-Public Water System. A previously issued BWA to Little Red River First Nation-Fox Lake Public Water System was rescinded.

Alberta Advisory Map

In Newfoundland, a BWA was issued to Forresters Point (Rudges Pond) due to Escherichia coli (E. coli) having been detected in an initial sample and considered extensive. This water system has other existing problems. A BWA was issued to Point Leamington (Little Pond) due to Total Coliforms having been detected and confirmed in a repeat sample. A previously issued BWA to Burgoynes Cove (Lower Rocky Pond) was rescinded.

Newfoundland Advisory Map

Saskatchewan, a PDWA (Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory) was issued to a limited area in the Village of Dysart due to a water main break. A previously issued First Nation BWA to Peter Ballantyne (Southend PWS) was rescinded.
