The Five Hills Health Region advises the public to avoid swimming and other in-water recreational activities in lakes and rivers that have been significantly impacted by Algae blooms. Water samples taken at Buffalo Pound Park Elmview Beach have shown that elevated levels of Toxic Algae are present. It is recommended that residents avoid algae scum areas at this time, including keeping pets away, refraining from water contact sports and taking care not to drink or bathe in the water.
