MISTY RIDGE, BC : BWA ON PRIVATE PROPERTY SINGLE WELL LEADS TO LEGAL BATTLE

“Minimizing health risks to the public is one of Island Health’s most important responsibilities and we take the protection of our drinking water sources very seriously.” (Islandhealth.ca)

Misty Ridge development on Vancouver Island was issued a boil water advisory August 28, 2018 for “Water not meeting the prescribed standard”, as per the Vancouver Island Health Authority.

According to islandhealth.ca, the contact person responsible for Misty Ridge water supply was advised of the boil water order, and gave assurance that all users would be advised. The actions required for release of the boil water order are two consecutive daily water samples testing at zero for total coliform and e.coli.

Residents of Misty Ridge from #653-697 Seedtree Road were contacted, including one resident who purchased a property in 2000. The resident, who cannot be named, shared that the water supply at Misty Ridge has been “problematic from the start”, and that the neighbours have been in and out of court over the years for access and control of the source well.

As the matter is presently before the courts, WaterToday will follow up with the full details as the information is released.
