For some great classroom ideas -- Follow the journey of a plastic bottle with these resources: Life Cycle of a Plastic Bottle Kids vs. Plastic Gone Fishin’ A Water Learning Activity K-3 Teachers’ Supplies: A galvanized waterproof washtub (no plastic tubs!) A set of metal numbers (0-9) Toy wooden fishing rods with magnets (etsy.com) The Lessons Read or listen to a story about water at freestories for kids. Go fishing. Numbers (0-9) will be in the water- filled tub. One at a time children will “fish” with the wooden rod and pick up one number with the magnet at the end of the rod. Each number will correspond to a question about the lesson. The teacher will ask the question. The child who went fishing will answer. A correct answer gets a prize. Repeat until all questions have been covered. Prizes: We want to encourage non-plastic alternatives to a healthy lifestyle.
